Everyone loves a good story.
Stories play out constantly all around us. Think about it. You know, that strange story about what happened to you at work last week, that funny story about your neighbor, or even the story you heard about how someone else won the Cash 5 drawing, not you of course, because cool stuff like that doesn't happen to you.
Stories amaze us, excite us, make us happy and sad and even surprise us; the story of The Grove is an amazing one and it's one God is writing of epic proportions.
Chris and Susan Lockhart moved to McDonough, GA in 2006 with their daughter Hayden after working with students in Mobile, AL. They didn’t actually move to start a church, although as time passed it seemed like they were constantly having conversations with this person or that about church planting. No, they moved to begin working with another church in the area.
During that time God began to really work on them about starting a new church. But Chris and Susan were pretty hard headed about the idea for a long time. That is, until God forced the issue. Pulling them out of the ministry they had just barely begun working with, in what would be what most would consider the strangest time, as Susan had just had a new baby and the idea of starting over from scratch couldn’t be any scarier. After days and hours of prayer asking God to open a door where the family could do anything but start a church; God continued to make it extremely clear that the plan was for them to get to work. After meeting and praying with friends and family, The Grove was born and with it a God given vision to create a movement in Henry County and beyond that would change everything. A vision to Love God, Love People & Leave No Doubt - that following Jesus is a better way to live.
But this story isn’t finished, actually, it’s just getting started, The Grove will hold it’s first “official” or public monthly worship gathering on October 18, 2009 at the Henry County Performing Arts Center, with weekly services starting March 7, 2010.
At this very moment we are seeking to people to join our team to help us accomplish this crazy vision, because we know that we’re not alone in wanting to see our community and our world become the kind of place that is better because there was a church that was serious about following Jesus and seeing peoples lives changed.
Actually, we believe that this may just be part of your story as well.
